Witnesses to Hunger was invited to exhibit photographs and speak at a Maryland Hunger Solutions breakfast at the Maryland State House in Annapolis on March 21, 2013.  Maryland is the wealthiest state in the US and yet one in six Marylanders did not have enough money to buy food last year, according to a recent FRAC report.

Dr. Mariana Chilton joined a panel of experts as part of Tavis Smiley's "Vision for a New America: A Future Without Poverty," a discussion on poverty and hunger and how we can address this national economic crisis.

Philadelphia, September 12, 2012 – Today, the United States Census Bureau released annual data on income, poverty, and health insurance coverage.  The data included indicators that children remain particularly vulnerable. One out of four children under the age of five (25.1 percent), live in poverty. Furthermore, 12.3 percent, or 2.45 million children under 5 are living in extreme poverty, at or below 50 percent of the federal poverty level.
