Three Ways to Impact National Hunger Policy Summer 2015

June 11, 2015
The National Commission on Hunger
Event Date:
June 11, 2015 to July 17, 2015

This summer, help shape national policy on hunger by sharing your experiences. Join members of Witnesses to Hunger in creating noise and speaking out about the injustice of hunger in America.

  1. The National Commission on Hunger needs to hear from you!

The National Commission on Hunger is tasked to address domestic hunger and food insecurity and to write a report to Congress and the President with their recommendations on ending hunger in America.  Help the Commission craft this report by sharing your thoughts, experiences, and personal recommendations to address hunger on their website.

You can also talk to the Commission on Twitter by tweeting to @NatlCommHunger

  1. Be a part of Community Voices and share your thoughts on why nutrition assistance matters!

The Center for American Progress, Coalition on Human Needs, Food Research and Action Center and Witnesses to Hunger have joined together to help amplify stories and personal experiences with hunger and nutrition assistance programs from across the country.  Join this movement today!

  1. Add to a growing archive of stories people most want to share!

StoryCorps, a program of NPR, launched a new smartphone app and website that allows you to record an interview and save it in the Library of Congress. Your dialogue with a friend, family member, coworker – anyone! – will be collected and archived for others to listen to and learn from for years to come.

Those who know firsthand what it’s like to raise a family on a limited income, to make the impossible choice of paying the rent or putting food on the table, to worry every moment of every day about the safety and wellbeing of your child – they are the true experts on hunger and poverty. They are the voices that need to be heard.

Your voice matters – speak out and stand up to hunger today!
