Taina P. is a 30-year-old mother of two children, a son and a daughter. In 1995, Taina moved to the U.S. from the Dominican Republic, and today she works to save money so that she can go back home to visit her family and friends. She is still working on her English, but that hasn’t stopped Taina from speaking out about her struggles with rent and affording healthy foods for her children. Taina is an early learning specialist who just began a new job for the School District in Boston. She is looking forward to going back to school because she believes a better education will improve the lives of herself and her children.
