Network Associate Director Provides Testimony on Cashless Store Ban

February 19, 2019
Event Date:
February 19, 2019

Kevin Thomas Jr., Associate Director of Operations and Asset Building for the Building Wealth and Health Network, was recently featured in a piece from the Inquirer for providing testimony on a bill under consideration by Philadelphia City Council that prohibits stores from refusing to accept cash or charging cash-paying customers a higher price.

In his testimony, Kevin implores, "as a city, we cannot let the businesses disguise discrimination as efficiency. We must support the ban on cashless businesses and push the business community to innovate new pathways for everyone to be included. Even those with just a dollar to spend."

The bill has been passed as of February 14, 2019.
